Dad-of-one Lance Birchall, from Stoke-on-Trent, says he ‘fell in love’ with trainers when he was just 14 years old. After the 25 year old lost his job in lockdown, he turned to Instagram to encourage people to donate their old trainers for him to clean and restore for homeless people. The project is called Soles of Stoke.

Our Mission

Lance shared, “Even if I can’t make them look brand new, someone will appreciate them.” His initiative has garnered attention, with ITV News showcasing his efforts. Just a short distance from Lance’s home is Lou Macari’s homeless center, which features private pods for rough sleepers. Lance aims to raise funds for a new pod,
sleeping equipment, and essential supplies for a homeless resident at the center.
